Like many of you, I spent a good part of the confinement scroller streaming platforms, desperate for some entertainment. It’s a bit sad, I know.
I thought I had covered all the series that absolutely must be seen. But I finally came across Barry, an HBO series starring Bill Hader as a hitman. Already, it started badly, because Hader is known for his roles in comedies or his many years in the team of SNL.
My cynicism quickly faded. From the first episode, this dramatic comedy proved to be fascinating. Both funny and filled with bloody Tarantino-style action, the show Barry is one of a kind. I can’t remember loving a series so much since. Breaking Badand that says a lot.
Barry tells the story of a contract killer who decides, overnight, to become an actor after attending an acting class led by Gene Cousineau, played by the incomparable Henry Winkler. Will he be able to live a normal life, while being a professional killer?
