“You only live once” – QX

He hadn’t seen the show when his daughter and his ex reported him.
– I have been single for quite some time, but will stop working this year and invest a little more in love. And this is one of the funnest things I’ve done in my life. We were 24 people who had so much fun together.

So, who are you?
– I live in Handen, south of Stockholm and drive a truck in Central Sweden. In his free time, golf is still the norm, and dancing with friends and travel. I have two children, one in Oxelösund and one in Ireland. And they are thrilled that I embarked on this adventure.

You talk about your bisexuality in the series, was that obvious?
– Not of course, but it felt right. Half the gang said “Huh!?” when I told them. It was great fun and my openness made others open up, and several of the women talked about bisexual experiences. Overall, everyone was open-minded.

You haven’t lived openly as a bisexual for so long?
– No, it was eight or nine years ago that I felt that I wanted to explore that part. I have friends who are gay, bi and trans, and in my life I’ve had threesomes, things have happened… You only live once and I want to enjoy being single and explore life. But I have never hidden this page.

You grew up in Ireland with ten siblings in a Catholic family and your family wanted you to study to become a priest?
– Yes, mother wanted me to enter the church, she had siblings who were nuns and priests. But when I was 14 I decided not to go to church. And they finally gave up.
During a holiday in Spain, Thomas met a Swedish girl with whom he kept in touch by letter, and soon they were married. They had two children and parted as friends in the early nineties. Since then he has had several relationships, but was now single when Hotel Romance knocked on.

The program is quite straight, would you have jumped in if it had been a season for bisexuals only?
– Yes, I think so. When I said yes, I was single and very open. I thought why not, I just wanted to enjoy the whole experience. I am 67 and just want to enjoy life. Many people close to me have died and you have to live in the present.
