According to the human rights project “Roskomsvoboda”, the site of “Real Russia” in Russia was blocked May 24 by decision of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation.
Baryshnikov was born in Riga in 1948. He began to study ballet at the Riga Choreographic School. He continued his studies in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg).
In 1974, after a tour abroad with the Bolshoi Theater troupe in Canada, Baryshnikov refused to return to the USSR.
He is a US citizen. In 2017 Baryshnikov became a citizen of Latvia. Latvia allows dual citizenship with the States.
