Samuel Penochet from Germond-Rouvre has chosen to sell his chrysanthemums at the Niort market, on the forecourt of Les Halles.

I am there every week, except in August when it is too hot for the plants. This year I produced around 600 chrysanthemums. They bloomed a bit late because of the heat but hey, we got there. People remain very attached to All Saints’ Day. The trend is towards composition. The new generation is looking for plants that last over time. I have a loyal clientele even if with five months of work, I cannot compete on the price level with the supermarkets which sell the chrysanthemum for two to three euros each. You have to know if you want organic cultivation or not.
