“In our lifestyle, nothing brings us closer”, it was with these words that the politician and former diplomat Ahmat Hassaballah Soubiane challenged public opinion during a round table organized on 4 January 2023 at Cefod by the Center for the development and prevention of extremism (CEDPE) on “Techniques of conflict prevention and the role of civil society in the promotion of democratic values during the transitional period of Chad”.
The former special adviser to the late Marshal of Chad believed that “the case of Chad is exceptional” because “in our way of life, nothing brings us closer”. He evidence in support: “you see in your living rooms (…) Affourcha, atourda, dougga … this is the language of the street. Educators make a lot of efforts but the state has never supported educators. We can expect from this education ?
Paradoxically, “in official speeches, we campaign for unity,” noted Ahmat Hassaballah Soubiane. “It won’t work. Look in your living rooms,” he insisted. In his eyes, “you have to change your education, otherwise you go back into the void”.
