“You didn’t bring the VHS?

Nuria Roca and Juan del Val are one of the most established and beloved couples on current national television. Together they have formed a wonderful family, in addition to having achieved what seems impossible for many: combining and sharing part of their professional careers on television.

Last weekend, the couple celebrated the writer’s 54th birthday; and this past Sunday it was their turn to congratulate each other on another very special anniversary, as it has been no less than 24 years since they said “I do” in Valencia. Therefore, in The Rock A series of unpublished images of that great day were shown, never seen on television.

Marta Critikian was in charge of giving way to the unpublished images, contributed by Juan del Val, who had brought the family photo album to the program’s editorial team. “How beautiful!” the collaborators said in unison when they saw Nuria Roca, who could only cover her face, somewhat embarrassed.

“It makes me very ashamed. There is no need to see this,” the journalist “complained,” who was not very amused that her husband had shared all those photos on television. Although he could not avoid his characteristic smile, he did get “angry” with the writer and journalist on air.

“It is one thing that you, without my permission, have taken the album and brought it to the editorial office, where they laughed at that old photo album, and this is another thing,” he said, as a reprimand, to the author of Delparaíso. “You didn’t bring the VHS, right?” he asked, knowing that there were many people he knew. “You can’t publish that.”

300 guests, among whom were Enrique Ponce and Paloma Cuevas: “Enrique sings very well,” said Nuria Roca

“You look good in all the photos,” her husband responded, downplaying her importance. The presenter, giving up, then explains that “everything is natural”, because “the photos are on paper”, so “there is no Photoshop or anything”.

The journalist also wanted to remember the moment in which the wedding took place, since his wife was at the height of her fame in Valencia at that time. “Men are totally irrelevant at weddings, but I am even more so. She was super famous in Valencia,” del Val explained. “Imagine what it is like, that in our wedding album there are more photos of Alfredo, my father-in-law, than mine.”

“Did you not bring the VHS tape?” Nuria Roca asked her husband.

Almost three decades together

The couple met almost 30 years ago, when Juan del Val fell in love with the presenter when he saw her on television, as he revealed during the promotion of his novel Delparaíso. Trying to get an interview with her, he decided to go to the set where she worked: “When I saw her I thought she was the most beautiful girl I had ever seen,” he once stated in The Anthill.

After a first meeting, the couple connected immediately and the rest, as they say, is history. Two years later, the couple sealed their love in a civil ceremony. On October 6, 2000, they said “I do” at a wedding held in El Puig, Valencia, in front of no less than 300 guests.

“I have married a very important person, I said,” Juan del Val joked during another of the programs The Rock, by remembering your link.
