Almost one and a half thousand Opel Astra Electrics will have to go to service centers to eliminate a serious problem.
The media reports that 1,466 owners of Opel Astra Electric manufactured in 2023 will be sent an invitation to come to the service center in order to eliminate a dangerous electronic defect in their vehicles, which can lead to a serious accident.
According to this statement, the problem is an electronic defect in the communication circuit between the engine and the vehicle’s control unit, which causes the immobilizer data to be misinterpreted. As a result, when starting to move, the vehicle may start to roll in the opposite direction, increasing the risk of a potential accident.
Opel authorized workshops will update the engine control unit software free of charge. It is not yet known when the manufacturer will notify customers in writing about the recall procedure.
The worldwide recall affects 1,466 Opel Astra Electric cars, 841 of which were sold in the German market.
