In the United States, residents continue to receive financial aid for different reasons. Each stimulus check or direct payment helps millions of families face high prices every day. It means an ideal livelihood to make ends meet, especially for households with modest incomes. In New York, for example, its government will provide invaluable financial support of up to $900.00 USD to its eligible residents. What is it about? It turns out that this payment will go towards paying heating bills during the winter. Around 1.7 million people in the “Big Apple” could benefit.
Financial assistance will reach those eligible through the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP). The benefit can be received regularly per year. Meanwhile, there are emergency HEAP payments if there is a risk of running out of fuel or having public service cut off.
HEAP Help
You will be eligible to obtain help from the aforementioned HEAP program if you use: electricity, natural gas, oil, coal, propane, wood, kerosene or corn at home. You should know that the regular 2023-2024 HEAP benefit is scheduled to start on November 1.
There are several parameters that are measured to determine eligibility and benefits. These include: income, household size and primary source of heating. In addition, the presence of a household member under 6 years of age, 60 years of age or older, or permanently disabled is taken into account.
You may be eligible for a regular benefit if you meet these requirements.
-A member of your household is a United States citizen or qualified non-citizen.
-Gross monthly household income is at or below the current income guidelines for your household size.
