For months they have been closed, the nightclubs and party cafes. But they plan to make up for what has been missed by the corona pandemic. That is why many bars and discotheques will open for revelers next night at 00.01 am.
Such as Feestcafé Klein Amsterdam in Groningen, where they expect a party such as is only celebrated on King’s Day. That is why they are scaling up with staff. “Friday we can finally open. And that night the night mayor is immediately tapping beers,” says owner Marcel Levee.
A little further on, at Ocean 41 in Groningen, they also open the doors at midnight. Without tables, without 1,5 meters, and with tests. “I expect it to be quite busy. It is one space with normal space for 300 to 350 people. We are not going to do that yet. That is very intense. We hope for at least 75 percent,” says Rianne van Ocean 41.

The owners have chosen not to do ticket sales. “At first we thought: that could be difficult. Because how much can be tested?” But that fear was unfounded. “The testing capacity is quite large.”
Both locations hope that there will be more test centers in the center of Groningen. “There is only one test location that is linked to QR codes and that is outside the center. We are lobbying for a test location in the center,” says company manager Siemen.
“Hopefully the municipality will participate in this”, says owner Levee van Klein Amsterdam. “We hope that the test location will be moved, because then testing will become more accessible.”
