Sony A80L: Full of gaming with a great picture

The Sony A80L presented itself as a real all-rounder in our test. It not only offers excellent image quality, with around 700 nits for vivid, detailed HDR images. The Sony A80L also comes with an extensive selection of apps, good sound quality – and of course a variety of gaming features. In fact, Sony even promotes the A80L with the statement “Perfect for PlayStation 5”. When the PS5 is initially set up, the television automatically handles the tone mapping using an automatic HDR function.

The Sony A80L supports the most important features with VRR, ALLM and 4K@120Hz via the HDMI ports and a special gaming overlay helps you make quick settings – for example, quickly switching VRR on or off. It can also place an artificial crosshair in the middle of the screen or use the black equalizer to drastically brighten the shadow areas in three levels. The image appears less natural, but it provides more information, which can be an advantage, especially in shooters. In our test, the Sony television received a grade of 9.2, which corresponds to “very good”.
