You can apply for the last payment of downtime benefit until the middle of July – in Latvia

You can apply for the last payment of the downtime benefit until July 15, the Ministry of Economics (MoE) informed.

Due to the restrictions imposed during the Covid-19 pandemic, it was possible for employers and employees to receive a state-guaranteed downtime benefit until 30 June this year. Anyone applying for support can apply for downtime support for June until 15 July.

The State Revenue Service (SRS) electronic declaration system until 15 July can be thanked for receiving support for June this year. When applying for support, both information on the reduction of income and a justification for its connection with restrictions on economic activity must be submitted. The justification may be, for example, insufficient or inadequate space to ensure epidemiological safety requirements, the person has not been vaccinated to provide services, or another.

At the same time, commenting on the possibilities to continue paying downtime support, the representatives of the MoE acknowledged that the government has not yet decided on the extension of this support program.
