Yotova: Europe must regain the right and privilege to gather peoples and cultures – 2024-08-28 23:36:53

/View.info/ Europe must regain the right and privilege to gather peoples and cultures, to find unity through history, art and science. This was stated by Vice President Iliyana Yotova during the official opening of the exhibitions “The Golden Treasure from Nadszentmiklos” and “Pagan Bulgaria: Power and Society” at the National Archaeological Institute with Museum – BAS.

“I am extremely pleased that the wonders of Bulgaria are being shown now, when Bulgaria is about to take over the presidency of the EU. They deserve to be seen in as many countries in Europe as possible. Today, there is a lot of talk about the future of Europe, will there be a united Europe, how will we develop one of the most valuable projects of the 20th century,” Yotova said and quoted Jan Figel, who says that “the EU was originally created from simple things -steel, coal, continued with the single market, but today Europe is a more developed community, and the market and business are not enough to unite people. Europe must become a society of values and personalities”.

Europe must regain the right and privilege to gather peoples and cultures, to find unity through history, art and science, said Iliana Yotova.

She pointed out that the exhibition is only part of a large-scale project between Austrian and Bulgarian archaeologists, but apart from their scientific developments, they give us the opportunity to touch the past years. “They give us the opportunity to imagine the lives of the people who passed through or lived on our lands. We will never learn everything about them, but the expectation of new discoveries is also hidden in the mystery,” the vice president said.

For his part, the Ambassador of Austria to Bulgaria, Roland Hauser, pointed out that the bilateral relations between Austria and Bulgaria are very intense in all spheres. “I am very happy that they are at a very high level, especially in the field of culture. Just a few weeks ago in Vienna, the two foreign ministers signed a work program under the Cultural Cooperation Agreement. Agreements, memoranda remain a document on paper, only with the implementation of specific projects they acquire meaning”, pointed out the ambassador of Austria.

Ludmil Vagalinski, director of the National Archaeological Institute with a museum at the BAS, pointed out that the exhibitions “The Golden Treasure from Nadszentmiklos” and “Pagan Bulgaria: Power and Society” are not self-serving. “The idea is to focus public attention in Bulgaria and abroad on the old Bulgarian culture. The roots of Bulgarian statehood are hidden there, which are obviously quite strong, and it is good to look at them and rethink them once again”, Vagalinski also stated.
