The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) appointed Mexican Gabriel Yorio González as its vice president of Finance and Administration this Tuesday, after being approved by the executive board, the organization announced in a statement.

With his extensive experience in financial issues, and management of large teams both in the public sector in Mexico and in multilateral organizations, Gabriel will provide invaluable experience to @el_BID. Welcome!”, wrote the president of the IDB, Ilan Goldfajn, on his official account on the social network X.

Yorio served as Undersecretary of the Treasury in Mexico during the last administration and left the position at the end of September.
Previously he served as deputy director of Technical and Financial Assistance of the National Bank of Public Works and Services in Mexico, and as director of Public Debt of the government of Mexico City. He also held positions at the World Bank Group.
Now starting next November 16, Yorio González – who has a master’s degree in policy management from Georgetown University and a master’s degree in economics from El Colegio de México – will be responsible for mobilizing and managing the IDB’s financial resources, and providing support services, ensuring effective and efficient performance of staff in the areas of budget, corporate procurement and administrative services.
