The prosecution requested such a request in a decision-making process on charges of violating the Benefit Management Act and the Donation Act, etc. A three-year prison sentence was sought for the director of the Justice Union, who was also indicted.
The indictment said, “There are many types of criminal acts over a long period of time, the nature of the crime is serious, and he does not show any signs of remorse even though he led the crime as a group CEO and executive.”
Prosecutors said, “Rep. Yoon and others received grants through the submission of false documents even though they did not adequately meet the requirements to receive grants without any guilt over a long period of time. It was helpful,” he said .
Prosecutors also added, “Rep. Yoon collected donations in his personal account and used them as his own money or used group funds for his own purposes.”
In response, Rep. Yoon petitioned for a reasonable court ruling, saying he does not pursue private interests in the process of using the donation.
In the closing argument, Rep. Yoon said, “During the two-year process, I painfully confirmed that there was inexperience in administration and accounting,” and bowed his head, saying, “I think I, the rep, is responsible for all of that.”
Representative Yoon stopped speaking for a while in the middle of his speech and showed tears.
He continued, “I did not work in Jeongdaehyeop with the intention of pursuing private interests, as the indictment insisted.”
Previously, Congressman Yoon’s side denied most of the allegations in the first trial held on August 11, 2021.
