Macron “AstraZeneca vaccine is not useful for people over 65”

French President Emmanuel Macron has questioned the effectiveness of the British pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine.

President Macron said in a meeting with reporters on the 29th local time that the AstraZeneca vaccine is less effective for those over 65 years old, AFP news agency reported.

“I think it’s invalid for people over 65,” he said. “In relation to AstraZeneca, the initial result we have secured is that we do not recommend it to people aged 60 to 65.”

These remarks came a few hours before the European Medicines Agency recommended conditional marketing approval of AstraZeneca vaccine.
