Hyundai Motor Company is working with the battery and mobility industry to demonstrate the electric vehicle battery rental business.
To this end, Hyundai Motor Company signed a business agreement with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, LG Energy Solutions, and KST Mobility for electric taxi battery rental and’after-use battery’ utilization demonstration projects.
According to the agreement, the taxi platform operator sells the ownership of the battery to the leasing operator after purchasing the electric vehicle.
After that, only the monthly rental fee is paid, and the initial purchase is possible at a price excluding battery costs, which account for up to 40% of the difference.
After use, the battery is made into an energy storage device and ESS by LG Energy Solutions and is used again for rapid chargers in electric vehicles.
In addition, the government has set this year as the first year of the era of popularization of eco-friendly vehicles, and is promoting the supply of 7.85 million vehicles with the goal of reducing automobile greenhouse gas emissions by 24% by 2030.
“From this year on, we will further strengthen our role as a pick-up point for the government by establishing a new mandatory purchase target system for electric vehicles and hydrogen vehicles in the public sector to create a fixed demand.”
We plan to increase subsidies and incentives for commercial vehicles such as taxis, buses, and trucks.
Considering that charging difficulties and short mileage are still obstacles, the number of electric vehicle chargers will be increased to more than 500,000 units in 2025, and rapid chargers that can drive 300 km with 20 minutes charging are also in full swing.
In addition, we are actively considering extending eco-friendly vehicle tax benefits, such as individual consumption tax, which expire at the end of this year, and plan to raise the proportion of exports by more than 20%p within 5 years.
