The US Governor of Georgia has asked US President Joe Biden to overturn the results of the US International Trade Commission’s and ITC’s decision on the battery dispute between LG and SK.

This is because if SK is defeated, the construction of SK’s electric vehicle battery plant in Georgia will suffer.

A technology dispute between SK Innovation and LG Energy Solutions, called the’Battery Litigation of the Century’.

Recently, the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) acknowledged SK’s infringement of trade secrets and decided to win LG.

In response, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp demanded a veto from US President Joe Biden, saying, “The construction of SK’s electric vehicle battery plant in Georgia could be hurt.”

As the ITC issued an order to ban imports from the US on batteries, etc. to SK, the construction of an EV battery plant in which SK invested 3 trillion won in Georgia will be hurt.

It has also argued that even 2,600 clean energy jobs are at risk.

This is interpreted as a strategy in which the Biden administration is simultaneously emphasizing job creation and the supply of electric vehicles to respond to climate change.

“Not only do we have to solve the employment problem, we have to deal with economic growth at the same time.”

President Biden must decide whether to exercise the veto within 60 days of the ITC decision.

In a similar case, in 2013, the ITC determined that Apple infringed Samsung Electronics’ patent, but it was lost due to President Obama’s veto exercise at the time.
