YOGYAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – A cultural figure from Yogyakarta, Butet Kertaradjasa, was reported to the Police Criminal Investigation Unit on suspicion of spreading false news regarding his statement claiming to have received intimidation from the police.
Butet was reported by advocate Lingkar Nusantara (Lisan) on Friday (8/12/2023) evening.
Responding to this, Butet said that he had no problem with the reporting. If later he is summoned by Bareskrim Polri, then he is ready to attend.
“It’s okay, it’s people’s right to report me, please. Later, if Bareskrim invites me, of course I will obey the law,” he said when met at his residence, Saturday (9/12/2023).
Butet admitted that he had prepared a lawyer as his legal representative to deal with this report.
“I will come and Bang Todung Mulya Lubis is ready to be my lawyer, the Director General of Culture will prepare how many lawyers he needs, which will be provided by the Directorate of Culture,” he explained.

Apart from bringing a personal attorney, he also admitted that his fellow human rights activists had also prepared a lawyer for him. He needs this because he is unfamiliar with the law.
“Friends of human rights activists have also prepared lawyers to accompany me. Because when it comes to legal matters, I’m a layman, I don’t understand, I can only speak in my way of thinking, from a cultural perspective,” explained Butet.
