“Yoga for children is becoming more and more popular. The difference to adult yoga is not that big, it is simply designed more imaginatively, but is simply good for the body and soul of the children, especially in the difficult times at the moment, ”explains the sports specialist who ensures that it is in the Bad Dürkheim district there are sports activities that are as low-threshold as possible for people.
The mother of five boys has found herself that she doesn’t have to explain the exercises to her children in great detail, they do a lot of things intuitively. “Children’s yoga can also be done with the very young,” assures Blankenfuland. “The exercises are then not that specific, but they are still fun.”
Tree with or without a crown
“One to three-year-olds are told: Imagine you are a tree. How are you Do you wiggle? Are you firmly rooted in the ground? And what does your treetop look like? “, Explains the Bobenheimerin. “And then they just start and try to do a tree. Great things come out of it. ”
From kindergarten age, for example for kids from the age of three, “it gets a little more difficult. You stand on one leg, the other is lifted and the heel is placed on the inside of the supporting leg, ”describes Blankenfuland. This causes the knee to turn away to the side. Now it’s a matter of keeping your balance. “The palms of the hands are pressed against each other in front of the chest.” In an alternative form, the arms are stretched upwards and opened, “then everyone builds their own treetop”.
The exercise is good for balance, concentration and – as in adult yoga – for inner calm. “If you stand and try to take root in the ground, it’s relaxing for children too,” says Blankenfuland. As is so often the case with children: keep the exercise as long as it is fun.
