Yogic practice brings well-being and, above all, helps to recover after surgery and during treatment for breast cancer. On the “Yoga Day” held in Latina at Palazzo M in the provincial headquarters of the Guardia di Finanza, six women testified today, Sandra, Emma, Daniela, Francesca, Patrizia and Paola, invited to speak as part of the “Yoga Project ”, included in the activities of the Breast Unit. Starting at 9:00 as scheduled, the morning saw moments of theory and practice.
At 10.30 the institutional part began, introduced by the teacher Giovanna Astuto who, among other things, thanked the President of the LILT of Latina, Doctor Nicoletta D’Erme, for the support given to the yoga project. After the self-introduction of the Yoga Teachers, the fundamental aspects of yogic practice were illustrated.
The yoga teachers who participated: Giovanna Astuto Coordinator of the group, Laura Attili, Sabina Campione, Cecilia Chiavelli, Monica Fava, Elisabetta Iorio, Assunta Molino, Liliana Pirani, Leonardo Rizzo.
Subsequently, the Case Manager of the BU Marcella Schembari took the floor and illustrated the management of the patients, as did Doctor Federica Martella, who replaced the Director of Physiatry, prof. Roberto Tozzi and explained the importance of patient rehabilitation through yoga and acupuncture. The prof. Fabio Ricci, Director of the Breast Unit, thanked Colonel Giovanni Marchetti, Commander of the Guardia di Finanza of Latina, who has always participated with a spirit of service together with his collaborators in the initiatives of the Breast Unit. Professor Ricci brought greetings from the General Director of the ASL, Doctor Sabrina Cenciarelli, to whom the thanks of all the participants went for the impetus she gave to the development of Integrated Therapies in breast medicine to improve the quality of life of the women affected from the disease.
Finally, the professor reconstructed and illustrated the PDTA relating to Integrated Therapies in Senology, including yoga, offered free of charge to all patients coming from the Latina Breast Unit. On behalf of the Mayor Matilde Celentano, Councilor Annalisa Muzio brought greetings from the municipal administration. In the afternoon there were two cultural and in-depth seminars organized by Antonia Tronti, scholar and yoga teacher and Giacinta Milita, physiotherapist and osteopath.
Also in the afternoon there were 4 periods dedicated to Yoga exercises for the public. A day dedicated to women because with integrated therapies such as yoga it is possible to remove cancer from women’s minds and with the leitmotif of the Breast Unit with the formula that: “the first prevention is correct information”.
