CEO of Yleisradio Merja Ylä-Anttilan his voice trembles when he remembers the TV1 announcer who died suddenly at the age of 50 Maria Jungner.

Ylä-Anttila told Iltalehte what he wants to say to Jungner’s grieving colleagues and loved ones.

– Life is fragile, unfortunately we got to experience that today. I wish everyone a lot of strength and endurance in grief, and then move forward together.

Ylä-Anttila published a short obituary about Jungner in the instant messaging service X on Sunday.

– I don’t really want to say more now that I don’t know all the backgrounds. However, it is shocking.

– This is certainly a really heavy thing for all of us, but of course the most for the family, commented Ylä-Anttila.

The last few days have been difficult at Yleisradio anyway.

– It hasn’t been long since our radio host Olga Ketonen also passed away suddenly.

Ketonen, known from Ylen Radio Finland, died on February 3 at the age of 59.

The mourning flag is known

Yle’s communications manager contacted by Iltalehti Anne-Mari Aaltonen said that the working community, shocked by Jungner’s death, needs time to process the matter.

According to Ylä-Anttila, Yleisradio will remember Jungner, but they haven’t had time to think about it yet on Sunday.

– We traditionally organize mourning flags and other similar commemorations. We’ll see how we do on Monday at leisure.

– We will certainly organize discussion help and everything possible that is needed in Maria’s close work community, Ylä-Anttila assures.

Jungner worked as an announcer for TV1 from 1998 until his death.
