Swaminathan, the owner of Swami’s Lodge, is a character who has earned a place among the moviegoers as the show continues to full audiences in theaters after years. YG Mahendra, one of the leading actors in Tamil, played the role of Swaminathan. Mahendra said that he has been associated with Malayalam cinema for many years.
The actor shared his experience with Mammootty in an interview given to Red Nool after the release of the film. Mahendra said that his friendship with Mammootty started from the movie Maunum Samamtam and it continues even today. The actor shared his experience with Mammootty during the shooting of Maunam Samam.
“I don’t know the current actors in Malayalam. But he has a good relationship with senior actors. Mammootty is my closest friend. He and I got to know each other from the movie Maunum Samam. K. Madhu was its director. After that we are good friends until now. When Mammootty says some things jokingly, we don’t understand the meaning at first.
Such an incident happened on the sets of that movie. During the shoot, Mammootty told me, ‘It doesn’t matter what you say, everything is due to that Shivaji Ganesha. It is enough to tell him. I was angry hearing this too. At that moment I wanted to hit him.
The reason for that was explained later. “You all work with Shivaji in mind before the picture. Mammootty said that his influence is visible in everyone’s acting. That’s when I was at peace. Again, I do not understand the true meaning of many things,’ said Mahendra.
