YG founder falls! BI drug case finally closed

The boss of YG Entertainment, Yang Hyun Suk, has just taken a hit in the wing! He received six months in prison and a year of probation for a case of threats dating back to 2016. This has everything to do with the case of BI, the former member of iKON, who was in trouble over rumors of drug use.

Yang Hyun Suk was released in the first trial on charges of threatening an informant to cover up BI’s drug problems. But in the second round, the court found him guilty. The prosecutor even wanted to ask for three years of imprisonment for other similar charges of retaliatory threats.

Seoul Superior Court, Criminal Branch 6-3, brought down the gavel, saying Yang Hyun Suk pressured Han Seo Hee, a former YG trainee, to stifle the investigation into BI’s drug problems after his arrest in 2016. Another YG boss, Mr. Kim, received four months in prison and a year of probation for the same story.

The court ruled that forcing Yang Hyun Suk to be interrogated destroyed his right to defense and likely put stress and pressure on the victim. As a representative of YG, he abused his position to dominate BI, lecture him, and as a result, was found guilty.

This story revealed that Yang Hyun Suk stuck his nose in the former iKON member’s drug informant case to cover up the story, using his power to hide the scandal and protect popularity and money of the artist, which contributed well to his fortune.

The defense always denied all accusations, while the victim, Han Seo Hee, only sought a sincere apology from Yang Hyun Suk and did not want him to be punished. The prosecutor initially asked for three years in prison for the YG Entertainment boss and two years for his former manager. Things are heating up in the world of K-pop!
