The movie loved by millions could look completely different.
Yevgeny Petrosyan is known to more than one generation of fans as a pop humorist. He performed in “Full House”, “Blue Light” and other projects and eventually became one of the most famous artists in the country. At the same time, not everyone knows that Petrosyan also dreamed of conquering cinema.
So, it was he who auditioned for the role of Shurik in Operation Y. The artist’s archives even contain pictures from a meeting with Leonid Gaidai, to which he allegedly invited Petrosyan himself. The director was sure that the young humorist would do an excellent job with the role. In the photographs, the artist smiles fervently and cheerfully looks into the camera, showing off his thick hair.
But Gaidai eventually chose Alexander Demyanenko, for whom this role became the main one in his career. Petrosyan, on the other hand, preferred not to connect his life with cinema, but concentrated on variety performances.
