Yesterday’s blackouts, due to high demand for heat energy: AMLO

Mexico City. President Andrés Manuel López Obrador attributed the blackouts that were recorded in some entities of the country to an exceptional demand for energy, as a result of the high temperatures recorded yesterday.

“We are going to be very attentive to this special situation, we are already working on it. Telling people that we have energy generation capacity, even with this, was an exceptional situation that was not expected.”

Briefly referring to the blackouts recorded in more than a dozen states, he said that very intense temperatures were recorded that in Mexico City reached 33 degrees around 4 in the afternoon. The National Energy Control Center has an alert system for when there is greater demand for electrical energy, which is why an alarm was established “for a short time and not in the entire country, so there were blackouts” in some parts of the national territory. and for “a short time, not throughout the country.”

He pointed out that this afternoon he will hold a meeting with members of the energy cabinet and private companies because about half of the electricity is produced by the latter “and we have to agree” to guarantee that the plants are in optimal conditions.
