SPKC reports that 20 of the detected cases have been infected from known sources of infection, including 17 of them related to a company in Kuldiga. One person is infected in Germany, but the conditions of infection are specified for ten patients.
The epidemiological investigation is ongoing.
The SPKC also reports that two more people with Covid-19 were hospitalized last day, so a total of nine people with moderate disease are currently being treated in hospitals.
Focus in the company “Kuldīgas tekstils”
In Kuldīga, the production company SIA “Kuldīgas tekstils” officially confirmed the Covid-19 infection for several employees, referring to the information provided by the company, the agency LETA was informed by Kristīne Duļbinska, Head of the Marketing and Public Relations Department of Kuldīga Municipality.
According to Dulbinska, on the morning of Thursday, September 24, all employees of “Kuldīgas tekstils” underwent Covid-19 tests and the results were promised in the evening.
The investigation revealed that a number of employees who had been issued with an incapacity for work certificate due to the onset of symptoms of respiratory infections were already under the supervision of family doctors. Consequently, the SPCC contacted GPs to inform them and encourage them to prescribe Covid-19 tests.
According to the center, one of the patients is a family member of an employee.
Jolanta Krūmkalne, a member of the board of “Kuldīgas tekstila”, told LETA that the company has 110 employees and on Thursday all employees who had come to work submitted analyzes.
“After receiving the analysis results, we will be able to think about what to do next, but it is clear that Covid-19 will have the greatest impact on the company’s operations,” Krūmkalne added.
SIA “Saules ieleja 3”, which provides catering services for two educational institutions, also works in the same building as SIA “Kuldīgas tekstils”. The management of the municipality has agreed with SIA “Saules ieleja 3” that in addition to safety, all employees of this company will also perform Covid-19 tests today. None of the people working in this company currently have any symptoms of the disease, the municipality said.
Dulbinska stressed that the flows of employees of both companies in the building are separated, additional disinfection and precautionary measures are being taken.
The municipality is aware that the students of three Kuldīga city schools have also been assigned the status of a contact person of a person infected with Covid-19, therefore these children do not attend school and the schools provide them with the opportunity to study remotely. Schools also follow up-to-date information and communicate with the SPC.
If necessary, additional precautionary measures will be taken in educational institutions in cooperation with the local government, the local government promises.
Pupils and educators, as well as every resident, are invited to monitor their health, not to go to school if there are any signs of Covid-19 infection, and to inform the family doctor immediately in case of illness, stressed the municipality.
