Several politicians of Groen react incensed to the video and especially about the statements that Weyts makes in it. Among other things, they criticize the timing now that the heavily armed soldier and terror suspect Jürgen Conings has been on the run for more than 2 weeks after he made threats against politicians and virologists.
Flemish MP Björn Rzoska spreads an edited version of the images via Twitter on which the words “Politicians blast off, is this normal, Minister Weyts?” are placed. “The moment virologists, journalists and politicians (including your chairman Bart De Wever) receive death threats. At that moment the Minister of Education (!) shoots without batting an eyelid at my Green colleague Kristof Calvo.”
