The current governor Jiří Čunek (KDU-ČSL) claimed before the regional elections that it was a referendum on the hospital. He was not wrong, but the election and the topic of the new hospital eventually broke his neck. The winning YES does not count on the coalition’s People’s Party, it tries to choose between the parties, which, like YES, are of the opinion that under the current conditions, the construction of a new hospital is unthinkable.

The People’s Party was thus the last of the parties to win over five percent in the elections in the Zlín Region to negotiate with the winning YES movement after two days on Monday evening.

In addition to the governor, according to him, YES would like to have one of the three deputies, the other two could be representatives of the Pirates and the ODS. In total, he wants to have four representatives in the nine-member regional council. After two representatives, YES offered to the Pirates and the ODS, one to the Social Democrats. Holiš gives eighty percent to the formation of the four-party coalition YES, Pirates, ODS and CSSD.

However, there is also a variant in the game with the Mayors, to whom YES also offered two positions in the regional council. And while maintaining the four-party coalition at the expense of the ODS or rather the Pirates. Holiš gives this variant twenty percent, but according to him it depends on the speed of negotiations. “We are trying to solve a coalition that would be divided into four parties and have about 24 out of 45 seats. We do not want to wait with the development in the republic. That the parties are uniting against YES. That is why STAN also received an offer for two councilors. We hope that this will speed up negotiations, “the leader admitted YES to the division of the nationwide union STAN and Pirates. Clearly, the leader would like to have YES by Wednesday at the latest. “We would like to be smarter on Tuesday,” Holiš told ČTK on Monday.

For one of these two parties to end up in the regional coalition and the other in opposition, when the names of their members could be on the joint candidates for the elections to the Chamber of Deputies in a year, it is rather unthinkable for STAN and Pirates in the Zlín Region.

A new player grows in the field, a combination of Pirates and STAN
If the Mayors agreed with the Pirates at the regional level, they would get higher than the winning YES movement with nine posts with a total of twelve seats in the negotiations of the regional coalition. The Mayors and Pirates have to clarify this connection on Tuesday afternoon.
Together with the ODS, with which STAN and Pirates have a similar view on the project of a new hospital, namely the elaboration of a full-fledged opponent’s opinion, which would refute or support the construction of a new hospital, this trefoil would have 17 out of 45 seats.

One of the possibilities for the formation of a right-wing coalition is to return to the game for seats in the People’s Coalition. This variant was accepted by STAN and Pirates. However, the main condition for the formation of this coalition is the “removal” of the current President Jiří Čunek (KDU-ČSL), who should thus be more of an ordinary representative. This would create a strong right-wing coalition with 26 seats. Jiří Čunek did not answer the phone in the afternoon. However, the deputy chairman of the KDU-ČSL and the regional representative, Ondřej Benešík, responded to the possibility of shutting down Jiří Čunek. “It is a matter of negotiations. But we want to know from other potential partners the reason why, for example, Jiří Čunek should not be a regional councilor. He is the politician who won the largest number of preferential votes in the region, “said Benešík.

Unless the incumbent governor and senator Cunek accepts this option or other right-wing parties agree otherwise with the People’s Party, STAN and Pirates will probably negotiate with the victorious YES movement, which, like KDU-ČSL, won nine seats. “At the moment, the negotiations on the battlefield are fierce, the situation changes every hour,” STAN leader Petr Gazdík admitted to Práva.

The ANO movement won the regional elections in the Zlín Region just before the second People’s Party, winning 19.08 percent of the vote, the other People’s Party 18.62 percent. Both entities have nine seats in the forty-five-member council. The third Pirates will have six representatives, as will STAN. In fifth place is the ODS with five representatives, the sixth is the CSSD with four seats. The SPD took three places with three representatives, as did the coalition of Tricolors, Privateers and Independents, which was eighth.
