Yes drummer Alan Alan White has died

Alan White joined the band Yes in 1972 and wrote the history of progressive rock with it. He lasted fifty years with the group.

In addition to Yes, he collaborated with George Harrison and John Lennon and the Plastic Ono Band – for example, he played Instant Karma and Imagine.

“During his six-decade career, Alan has been a chore to many people. An acclaimed rock star for fans around the world and a friend from the band, a gentleman and a friend to everyone who met him, “said the family.

White was born in Pelton, England in 1949. He started playing drums at the age of twelve and has already performed in clubs as a teenager.

His career took a turn for the worse when John Lennon called him in 1969.

“I thought he was a friend making fun, so I hung up,” White recalled in 2019. Then he called him again, and Lennon told him he needed a drummer for a concert in Toronto. The next day he went to see him.

After the concert, Lennon offered him a collaboration on the Imagine record.

With Yes, he recorded innovative albums such as Tales From Topographic Oceans and Relayer, as well as more pop things from the eighties, including the hit Owner Of and Lonely Heart. Back in 2021, he participated in the album The Quest.

During the eighth decade, he also starred with Jimmy Page in the XYZ project, which meant “Ex Yes and Zeppelin.”
