ADEN, Yemen, December 25 (XINHUA) — The largest hospital in Yemen’s southwestern Taiz province was forced to close on Sunday due to a severe fuel shortage, affecting thousands of patients in the ravaged Arab country from the war. he told Xinhua.
“All wards of Al-Thawra General Hospital, including a center specializing in the treatment of kidney disorders, have been closed due to the severe fuel shortage,” the official said on condition of anonymity.
“The hospital, the largest in Taiz, provides services to thousands of patients in a densely populated city,” he added, noting that the closure “put patients’ lives at risk.”
The hospital has urgently appealed to international organizations and United Nations agencies to provide it with the fuel it needs to overcome the crisis and avoid a health catastrophe, according to the official. end
