Details: The tanker’s owner, Trafigura, told the BBC the impact had caused a fire in one of the ship’s cargo compartments and fire-fighting equipment was being used to contain it.

US officials told the BBC’s US partner CBS that the Marlin Luanda’s distress call was responded to by a nearby warship. No one was injured as a result of the fire.

Earlier, Houthi representatives announced the strike, claiming that they fired “a number of retaliatory naval missiles” at the ship.

As is known, tensions in the Red Sea increased after the outbreak of the conflict between Israel and the terrorist group Hamas.

Attacks by the Iran-backed Houthis on ships in the Red Sea, which accounts for half of global maritime trade, have already impacted prices in many countries. Fears have also grown that the fallout from Israel’s war against Hamas could destabilize the Middle East.

The media previously reported that the administration of US President Joe Biden develops plans long military campaign against the Houthis in Yemen.
