RIYADH, KOMPAS.com – Office United States of America ( AS) on Wednesday (28/10/2020) warned of a possible attack in Riyadh, when the military coalition was headed Saudi Arabia report interception drones and missile which the rebels fired Yaman to the country of the kingdom.

The Houthi rebels had previously made Riyadh a target of fire with missiles and drones, but coalition forces claim to thwart most of the attacks.
Riyadh is located more than 700 kilometers north of the border with Yemen.

Hours after the US Embassy statement, the coalition said six drones laden bombs flown by the rebels towards Saudi Arabia were intercepted, according to reports Saudi Press Agency.

Rebels launched drones “deliberately and systematically to target civilians” in the kingdom, coalition spokesman Turki Al Maliki was quoted as saying AFP.
The coalition also later intercepted rebel ballistic missiles targeting the town of Jizan, the city of Najran and the town of Khamis Mushait, state TV reported.

The other two targets could be destroyed mid-air, the report added.
Yemen is experiencing a civil war between the Houthi rebels who occupy the capital Sanaa, and an internationally recognized government backed by a Saudi-led coalition.
The attacks come amid fierce fighting in recent months as the Houthis try to take control of the oil-rich Marib province.
It is also the last stronghold of the Yemeni government in the north, located 120 kilometers east of Sanaa.
Saudi Arabia has repeatedly accused Iran of supplying advanced weapons to the Houthis, but that charge continues to be denied by Tehran.
The coalition backed by Western powers including the US stepped in to support the Yemeni government in 2015 after the Houthis seized Sanaa. But coalition forces are still having trouble overthrowing rebel rule.
Since the Yemeni civil war broke out, tens of thousands of people, partly civilians, have been killed and millions of people have been displaced. The United Nations has described it as the world’s worst humanitarian disaster.
