Two New York City culinary havens have landed top spots on Yelp’s coveted "Best New Restaurants of 2024" list, showcasing the city’s dynamic and ever-evolving dining scene.
Claiming the top spot is the Meatpacking District’s Mēdüzā Mediterrania, a trendy hotspot radiating upscale elegance that has quickly become a favorite amongst discerning diners. "Being recognized by such a prominent outlet in the world’s most competitive dining scene is an incredible honor," said Tosh Berman, co-founder of the restaurant’s parent company, Noble 33. "Any ambitious restaurateur would tell you it’s probably the hardest market to be successful in."
It seems the Noble team, known for successful eateries in Miami like Toca Madera and Casa Madera, took their time meticulously crafting a concept worthy of the Big Apple. " We felt that we had fine-tuned our model and approach to the point of being able to confidently introduce something new to New Yorkers," Berman explained.
The spacious 8,870-square foot venue, formerly occupied by Provocateur, offers a unique blend of Mediterranean flavors with a contemporary edge, creating a truly immersive dining experience. The ambiance evokes the glamour of both coasts, reflecting its grand location and culinary inspiration.
Even high-profile celebrities like Taylor Swift and Cardi B have been spotted venturing into Mēdüzā’s exclusive upstairs dining room, a testament to its allure. However, Berman emphasizes consistency above all else, stating, "We’re fortunate that what we’re doing has resonated with some influential people and we’re honored that they continue to choose us," but insists "[the] team strives to deliver on a consistent world-class experience night in and night out." Further cementing New York’s culinary prowess on the list is Sartiano’s, securing the nineteenth spot. This Soho-based Italian gem, boasting a 4.4-star Yelp rating, is lauded for its refined atmosphere and charming outdoor seating.
A favorite amongst A-listers, Sartiano’s has drawn the likes of Paul McCartney, Martha Stewart, Margot Robbie, and Gisele Bündchen, adding to its prestige. Founded by Scott Sartiano, the mastermind behind the exclusive private club Zero Bond, and spearheaded by three-time James Beard award-winning chef Alfred Portale, Sartiano’s has quickly established itself as a premier destination, proving its ability to unite exceptional cuisine with magnetic appeal.
