Yells at sports clubs: canteens must better enforce QR code | Inland

Bruls responded on Thursday to an investigation commissioned by the NOS, which shows that the canteens of amateur sports clubs are often not checked. Control varies in cafes and restaurants. In theatres, cinemas, concert halls and stadiums, the much-discussed code is often requested. A green tick requires vaccination or a recent rest.

According to Bruls, the chairmen of the security regions see that most entrepreneurs are doing well. “Since the research shows that a majority of Dutch people have positive experiences with a corona admission ticket and that the control turns out to be a relatively small effort, I call on managers of sports canteens to really maintain the proof. If the infections continue to rise and the measures have to be tightened up again, nobody will be happy,” said the council chairman.

Fine or closure

Bruls points out that failure to comply with the access rules can result in a fine or closure of the business. That has also happened a few times since the rules came into effect, such as at vegetarian restaurant Waku Waku in Utrecht. “We do not want to go back to the old corona measures, when canteens and catering were completely closed or open with restrictions.”

Koninklijke Nederlandse Horeca (KHN) says it sees satisfaction from, for example, municipalities and enforcers about how the catering industry deals with corona checks. “We are not getting any signals that things would not go well,” said KHN chairman Robèr Willemsen. Willemsen also sees that catering and customers are less opposed to the corona pass than before its introduction. He thinks support will increase if the mandatory midnight closure is lifted.
