“Yellow” weather alert for Campania starting at 6pm

The Civil Protection of Campania, in consideration of the evaluations of the Functional Centre, has issued a warning weather alert with consequent Yellow criticality for hydrogeological risk valid from 6 pm today to 6 pm tomorrow throughout the region. Local to scattered rainfall is expected, including showers or thunderstorms. The phenomena could also be intense. In addition to the hydrogeological criticality, the warning also concerns “strong winds from the western quadrants, with gusts” and consequent rough or very rough seas with possible storm surges along exposed coasts.

Attention must be paid to the hydrogeological risk: among the main consequences of the impact of rain and storms on the ground, there are floods, rising water levels of watercourses, water flow on roads, runoff with transport of material, falling rocks and landslides, also in consideration of soil saturation and fires or conditions of hydrogeological fragility of the land.

Due to the gusts of wind and the rough seas, the competent authorities will also have to monitor public greenery and the correct maintenance of structures exposed to the stresses of wind and wave motion.
