In the middle of the presidential campaign, the director Emmanuel Gras, known in the cinema world for Makala and Bovines, returns with a new film, Un Peuple, whose release in dark rooms is scheduled for February 23, 2022.
The documentary captures the beginnings of the movement of yellow vestsat the end of 2018. Following the increase of a tax on fuelcitizens throughout France decided to protest against this government decision and gathered in particular on roundabouts and in the capital.
Men and women from Chartres to Paris
With A PeopleEmmanuel Gras wanted to capture the beginnings of the citizen gathering in Chartres (Eure-et-Loir). Through numerous shots of demonstrations in the capital of Eure-et-Loir and as far as the Champs Élysées in Paris, he also paints the portrait of inhabitants engaged in an unprecedented movement.
In Chartres, a group of men and women gather daily. Among them, Agnès, Benoît, Nathalie and Allan engage headlong into the collective struggle. Like a whole people, they discover that they have a voice to make heard.
A preview in Chartres on Sunday
The film will premiere this Sunday February 20, 2022 at the Chartres cinema, Les Enfants du Paradis and in the presence of Emmanuel Gras and other protagonists of the film. The session will begin at 4:30 p.m.
