“Yellow Fever Vaccine: Requirements, Recommendations, and Lifelong Protection”

The yellow fever vaccine is a live attenuated vaccine. It can only be administered after 6 months of life.

For a long time, vaccination was recommended every 10 years. Currently, the World Health Organization (WHO) only recommends a single dose – considered sufficient for lifelong protection. However, some countries have not yet adapted their legislation.

Vaccination against yellow fever is recommended in some countries, and even mandatory for staying in or transiting through most countries in sub-Saharan Africa and those in Latin America touching the Amazon basin, including Panama.

Only travel vaccination centers are authorized to vaccinate against yellow fever. Vaccination must be recorded in the yellow international certificate, duly signed by the vaccinating doctor and bearing the official authentication stamp.
