– The weather doesn’t take Christmas holidays. On Christmas Eve and the night before Christmas Day, many places in Western Norway south of Stad will receive a top-up of snow, locally 10-25 centimeters and more in the mountains. We have sent out a yellow danger warning, reports the Meteorological Institute in a message on X/Twitter on Saturday morning.

– During the late Christmas Eve afternoon/evening, the precipitation will change to rain in the lowlands in the outer regions, says the danger warning.
A yellow hazard warning is sent out when minor consequences are expected. Most people will be able to continue with their daily activities, but those who are planning outdoor activities, for example, should be aware or possibly stay indoors.
The recommendations are to protect vulnerable installations and objects that cannot withstand the expected amount of snow. Furthermore, it is recommended to calculate some extra time for transport and driving and to use the right tires and drive according to the conditions.
There may be locally difficult driving conditions and snowpack in the mountains may result in reduced visibility and the possibility of convoy driving and/or closed roads, the meteorologists write on yr.no.
