Yellow Code Issued for Thunderstorms and Heavy Rainfall in 20 Areas

A yellow code for thunderstorms and heavy rainfall has been issued in 20 areas for tomorrow, according to the National Institute of Hydro-Meteorology.

Significant amounts are expected in almost the entire country, with the exception of Eastern and Northeastern Bulgaria. There will be brief but intense showers and thunderstorms. Amounts will be 20-35 mm, locally up to 50 mm. There will also be conditions for hail.

A cold atmospheric front will pass through the country tomorrow. Cumulus clouds will develop in Western and Central Bulgaria and cumulus-rain clouds; there the wind will be oriented from the northwest.

Minimum temperatures will be between 16° and 21°, and maximum temperatures will be 26°-33°. The maximum temperature in Sofia will be around 26°.

This evening, a half-hour storm brought down tree branches and obstructed traffic in Kyustendil. “The damage was repaired in exactly half an hour, no one was injured. A car was crushed by fallen branches in the city, which was parked and there were no people in it,” Ivaylo Chalakov, expert “Defense and Mobilization Preparation” at the Municipality, told BTA Kyustendil.
