Yellow and Orange Snowfall Codes Issued for Entire Country by NIMH Forecasters: Significant Snowfall and Blizzards Expected

Yellow and orange snowfall codes have been issued by NIMH forecasters for the entire country, according to a report on Plovdiv24.bg. On Saturday, the wind will shift from the northeast and increase. Cold air will sweep across the country. It will be cloudy with mostly snow showers; in southern Bulgaria before noon it is still raining, but as it gets colder, the rain will quickly change to snow there as well.

There is an increased probability that in places, mainly in the Pre-Balkans and in South-West Bulgaria, the amounts will be significant, a snow cover will also form, in some areas reaching 20-25 cm, in the mountains – up to about 55 cm. In Central North and North-Eastern Bulgaria, as well as along the mountain passes, there will be conditions for blizzards and winds.

In many areas, the temperatures will have the opposite daily trend: in the morning between 1° and 6°, by 2 pm – already between minus 4° and 1°. During the night to Sunday from the north, the precipitation will begin to weaken and stop, at the latest – in the morning on Sunday – in the Rilo-Rhodope region. It will be cold, in the eastern half of the country still windy.

During the first half of next week, there is little chance of precipitation. In the beginning, the cloudiness will be broken, mostly high and medium, on Monday along the Danube – significant low. The wind will die down

in many areas and will subside; in the morning it will be quite cold with minimum temperatures between minus 12° and minus 7°, and maximum temperatures will mostly be between minus 2° and 3°. And on Tuesday morning temperatures will be low, but warming will begin during the day. Daytime temperatures will reach 2°-7°.

On Wednesday, the increase in temperatures will continue. The west wind will increase. It will be partly cloudy, mostly sunny. On Thursday, morning temperatures will be relatively high, but during the day cloudiness will increase, the wind from the northwest will increase and rain will fall in isolated places. A new drop in temperatures will begin.
