The yellow level indicates, according to the Meteorological Institute, that “the area will be affected by isolated showers and storms, some locally strongwhich are expected to be accompanied by intense gusts, occasional hail fall, strong electrical activity and abundant rainfall in short periods”. Accumulated precipitation values can be between 15 and 40 millimeters, and may be exceeded punctual.
The orange alert, for its part, indicates a “moderate to high health” effect. “They may be very dangerousespecially for risk groups”, reports the SMN.
Yellow alerts for strong winds: three affected provinces
The meteorological agency established three yellow alerts this morning due to strong winds forecast for the Andean areas of Cochinoca, Rinconada, Santa Catalina and Susques, in the province of Jujuy; the same for Los Andes, in Salta and in Antofagasta de la Sierra and the Tinogasta mountain range, Catamarca.
According to this alert level, the regions will be affected by winds from the west sector with speeds between 50 and 70 kilometers per hour and gusts that can exceed 80which is why specialists recommend avoiding outdoor activities, securing items that can be blown up, keeping informed by authorities, and always having a backpack ready for emergencies that contains a flashlight, radio, documents, and telephone.
The warning for strong winds was also issued for the southern regions of Conesa, the Adolfo Alsina, San Antonio and Valcheta plateaus in the southeast of the province of Black river. The yellow alert was repeated due to winds to the east of Mártires, Telsen, Gaiman and the Biedma, Florentino Ameghino and Rawson plateaus, in the province of chubut as in Costa de Deseado in Santa Cruz.
Yellow alerts for storms
The warnings issued by storms affect the towns of Rivadavia, east of the province of Salta; the northeast of Santiago del Estero, in the areas of Alberdi, Copo and Moreno; and to the entire province of Formosa and northern Chaco.
In the same way, storms are expected in the northwestern town of the province of currents in the Capital City of the same name, Berón de Astrada, Empedrado, General Paz, Itatí, Mburucuyá, Saladas, San Cosme and San Luis del Palmar.
