Yellow alert in Fvg for rain and storms

(ANSA) – TRIESTE, 11 SEPTEMBER – A new yellow weather alert has been issued by the Civil Protection of Friuli Venezia Giulia due to the arrival of heavy rain, thunderstorms and strong winds. The warning is in effect from 8 pm today to 6 am on Friday. The weather bulletin reports that south-westerly currents are flowing into FVG and will be more unstable from the afternoon-evening. Tomorrow a strong cold front from Northern Europe will arrive, causing bad weather in the region. Local thunderstorms, perhaps even strong ones, are possible from this evening. Heavy rain and scattered thunderstorms will arrive tomorrow; locally the rain could be very heavy and the thunderstorms strong. A strong southerly wind will blow on the coast, which could cause a brief storm surge. From the afternoon on the plains and mountains a strong northerly wind will blow, with a strong Bora wind on the coast in the evening. From the afternoon snow above about 1500 meters in the Alps and 2000 meters in the Prealps, in the evening the snow level will drop to about 1000 meters in the Alps and about 1500 meters in the Prealps. The wave of bad weather, reports the Civil Protection, could lead to local crisis situations in the minor hydrographic network and urban drainage, rising watercourses, local phenomena of instability of the slopes, local interruptions of traffic and problems connected to possible gusts of wind especially during storms.
