Yellow Alert: Heavy Rain Warning in Eight Districts of Kerala; Cyclone Hamun to Form Soon

Thiruvananthapuram: Rain will continue in the state today. Yellow alert has been declared in eight districts. Rain warning has been issued in Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Palakkad districts. A chance of isolated heavy rain is forecast.

The Central Meteorological Department has informed that there is a possibility of light rain at isolated places in Alappuzha and Ernakulam districts in the next three hours. Low pressure in Bay of Bengal has become a very intense depression. Cyclone Hamun will soon form in the Bay of Bengal.

The National Center for Oceanography and Oceanography (INCOIS) said that high waves and storm surges are likely to occur in Kerala coast (Vizhinjam to Kasaragod) till 11.30 pm tonight and 1.2 to 3.0 meters in south Tamil Nadu coast (Kulachal to Kilakarai) till 11.30 pm. Fishermen and coastal residents beware.
