Years late: Tesla may begin production of a truck

The Semi electric truck was introduced by Elon Musk in 2017. It was originally scheduled to go on sale in 2019. As usual, Tesla missed the promised date by several years.

Now, however, the truck may finally enter production, which is currently expected to happen next year.

“Although there are already prototypes of several electric trucks, none of them have the specifications to allow long-range towing of a Class 8 vehicle, as promised by Tesla Semi,” wrote electrek editor Fred Lambert.

He also claims that the truck “will have the lowest operating costs of any truck, making it extremely undermining in an industry where every penny matters.” Semi is expected to run from 450 to 800 km and start at prices between 150 and 180 thousand dollars.
