SV Werder Bremen has not received much commendation these days. Florian Kohfeldt’s team has been stuck in a relegation zone for weeks and it is quite likely that not much will change on the last matchday of this Bundesliga season. Then Werder Bremen would relegate for the first time in almost four decades, falling from eighth place in the table last season.

The part of the hopeless climber with the red lantern has been taken over by Paderborn from Nuremberg, that of the surprisingly stumbling large club Werder from VfB Stuttgart. The brave outsider who surprisingly saved himself was Düsseldorf last year and is now called Union Berlin. Augsburg was 15th and probably will again, Hertha was eleventh and is now probably tenth. Schalke was even three places down in the previous season, but there is still room for improvement. Only Freiburg jumped five places, the only remarkable deviation apart from Werder’s crash.
