At the beginning, the Bernese are overrun by their own followers. Sporting’s off-duty goalscorer, Viktor Gyökeres, keeps scoring. But the Swedish national player initially finds his master in David von Ballmoos.

But as a result, YB also found their way into the game and had good chances themselves. The closest Amenda comes to scoring is a header from a corner. But the goal would not have counted because of offside.

After a good half hour Amenda finally scores – but into her own goal. The central defender, who moved to Frankfurt in the summer, is otherwise playing a strong game.
And before the break things get even worse for the Bernese: There is a penalty for the Portuguese. Gyökeres doesn’t give Ballmoos, who caused the penalty, a chance.

But YB reacted strongly to the setback: Ugrinic managed to make it 1:2 practically in return. However, the goalscorer apparently hurts himself more when he finishes. He cannot continue and has to be replaced by Niasse.
Immediately before the break, Itten supposedly even equalized – but the goal didn’t count because it was offside. And so YB goes into halftime with a narrow deficit.

Bern’s regained hope takes a hit after the break. Less than three minutes after the restart, Ignacio headed Sporting to 3-1.
Although the Wicky team isn’t discouraged by this, they can no longer create any really good chances. The substitution of Elia and Ganvoula doesn’t change that.

Only shortly before the end did Ganvoula score the supposed goal, but the linesman’s flag went up again. Offside again. And a little later Ali Camara also sees the traffic light map.
YB’s home game against Lausanne-Ouchy is on Sunday. The second leg against Sporting in Lisbon will take place in just one week. It remains to be seen whether the Bernese can make up for the mortgage.
