Before Mr. Yasser Al-Mashal thought about nominating himself for the presidency of the Football Association, some colleagues and I were hoping that he would take over the leadership of this federation. We repeatedly asked for the opportunity and trust to be given to him. Perhaps through his keenness to implement the systems according to what he was talking about for some sports programs at the time, in addition to the experiences he gained in local, continental and international positions, we would see a president superior to all those who preceded him, especially since we heard from him embellished words that made us… We are very optimistic about a different personality in his approach to dealing with the media, responsive and very close to the youngest and oldest journalist, not to mention his statements in which he has the utmost respect for the systems and his steadfast defense of them and their implementation.
– The famous Yasser, who we knew and who broke into our hearts with his thoughts and words, and we thought highly of him and believed that he would be a distinguished material, and during his protected reign, we will see committees with exceptional competencies and abilities that will achieve “equality and justice” for our clubs, making those who have tasted the injustice and suffering they have been subjected to forget for decades. We, as sports media, discovered that we were “deceived” by him, as he had changed a lot, and his beautiful spirit and gentle smile that won us admiration, and his football and legal culture and his accumulated experiences did not in any way reflect the reality of his true personality after he assumed the presidency of this vital and important sector.
Not only that, but the biggest deception was about hopes that were shattered and dreams that evaporated. We did not see anything new about the committees in their work mechanism, a duplicate if not much worse than the previous ones, and stages that did not realize the maturity of thought of a society that had changed a lot, and our beloved president of the union remained silent. His excuse is that he does not like to interfere in the work of the committees, and Abu Salman will allow me that this justification is nothing but an “escape” from bearing responsibility for what is happening, and the examples are many, including a periodic schedule whose beginnings were shaped by the features of all previous seasons, and sudden changes in dates. His tours affected the identity of the champion and the fairness of the competition, and some of the referees are forbidden to pay sums of money to them and they are below the expected level, and the decisions of committees contain such disparity and discrepancy that “turns the boys gray.” Perhaps the most recent of them concerns Al-Ittihad Club, which will win two important tournaments, the first of which is the Super Cup, and the second. The King’s Cup, with a decision issued by the National Teams Committee to include 5 of its players in the list of our Olympic team, even though the system does not allow forcing the club in the event that it has official participations, not to mention satellite statements made by you and no one else that move in the same direction, so why did they go unheeded?
– From this standpoint, I say with a mouth full of love and appreciation to the President of the Football Association, Yasser Al-Mashal, “Fear God,” and know that any negligence in your work tasks and responsibilities, whether on your part personally or through committees that follow you, will not absolve you of responsibility before God, for you are definitely accountable in this world and the hereafter. Oh God, I I have reached, O God, bear witness.
