Yash Dhull Named India A Captain for Men’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup

Former India U-19 captain Yash Dull, who led the team to the title last year, has been named the India A captain of the men’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup 50-over squad, two weeks after he was not considered for the North Zone’s Duleep Trophy squad. The tournament will be held from July 13 to July 23 in Sri Lanka. Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Oman and UAE teams will participate in the tournament.

Dhool, who struggled in the domestic circuit for Delhi and faced difficulties, was indeed selected as a gift. The actor shone in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He was the highest run-scorer with 363 runs from eight innings, but failed in both the Vijay Hazare Trophy and the Ranji Trophy. It should be noted that nothing much could be done in the Indian Premier League either.

Dhull was discussed at length in the North Zone’s selection meeting for the Duleep Trophy, but his absence due to poor form made it difficult for the selectors to include him even in the standby. But eventually Yash was chosen to lead the Asia Cup team.

Punjab wicketkeeper Prabhsimran Singh, who scored his maiden T20 century against Delhi Capitals in IPL 2023, has been named as the wicketkeeper along with Rajasthan Royals’ Dhruv Jural. TNPL 2023 top scorer Sudarshan, who scored 96 runs for Gujarat Titans against IPL champions Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2023 final, has been included in the squad. At the same time, the selectors also expressed faith in Rian Parag.

All-rounder Nehal Vadhera, who scored a half-century for Mumbai Indians in his debut season, is among the four players on the standby list. Sairaj Bahutule (bowling) and Munish Bali (fielding) will assist head coach Sitanshu Kotak in the tour.

India A are in Group B along with Nepal, UAE A and Pakistan A. The top two teams in each group will play in the semi-finals. The semi-finals will be held on July 21 and the final on July 23. While India won the first edition of this tournament in 2013, Sri Lanka won both the subsequent years.
