Yas Circuit maintains a “3-star” environmental rating – Al-Ittihad

Thrilling Company continued to work on developing and adding more environmental initiatives to the previous steps taken at the Yas Marina Circuit for the Formula 1 Grand Prix, which include adopting LED lights to illuminate the race track, which contributed to reducing the number of lights by 17%. Energy consumption by 40% and carbon emissions by 30%.
Once again this year, steps were taken to supply the distinctive Abu Dhabi Hill, which is widely popular with racing fans, with all its energy needs through a power generation system with solar panels with a capacity of 75 kilowatts and solutions to store the generated energy. Thethira Company also took the initiative to develop its first solar energy system in the parking lots. With a capacity of 1 megawatt, when the system starts operating at the beginning of next year, it will provide 40% of the site’s daily energy needs on average throughout the year.
Environmental initiatives also include adopting recycled plastic to make uniforms for all work personnel, and adopting a plastic-free environment in the media center, maintenance area, and team villas.
This environmental assessment of the Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is ​​fully in line with the Formula 1 Environmental Sustainability Plan. This plan aims to reduce the carbon footprint and host sustainable events by 2025, and reach carbon neutrality by 2030.
In 2022, Thithra Company joined the carbon neutrality agreement with the United Nations within the United Nations Sports Initiative for Climate Action (UNS4CA), where it will work within the framework of the agreement to implement a set of sustainability initiatives and programs with the aim of reaching net zero carbon emissions by 2040.
Yas Marina Circuit also obtained ISO 14001 and ISO 20121 certifications this year regarding environmental management and sustainable event management systems.
Thus, Atheer Company becomes the first founder in the region to obtain the ISO 14001 and ISO 20121 certificates, and the three-star environmental accreditation from the International Automobile Federation, and to be the signatory of the carbon neutrality agreement with the United Nations within the United Nations Sports Initiative towards Climate Action (UNS4CA), which confirms its leadership position.
