Yaroslava Maguchy’s Shocking Behavior Taints Long-Awaited Victory

Yaroslava Maguchy won a long-awaited victory, but her behavior was shocking.

Ukrainian track and field athlete Yaroslava Maguchyh has long fought with Russian Maria Lasitskene for the title of the best in the high jump sector. And regularly lost to our beauty. However, at the World Championships in Budapest, Maguchy took advantage of Lasickene’s absence and took the long-awaited gold.

Only here, it seems, they will not remember the victory, but the disgusting behavior of the athlete after success. And the helplessness of officials who indulge in a real bacchanalia.

Long-awaited victory

Yaroslava is certainly a talented athlete. Nobody argues with this at all. However, in terms of the level of achievements, it is clearly inferior to our Lasitskene. The Ukrainian lost to her the gold of the World Championship in Doha in 2019, and then in a dramatic fight she was left without a victory at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. By the way, in Japan, Maria and Yaroslav nicely hugged and took pictures after the end of the competition. They got along well and were on friendly terms.

However, in Ukraine, Maguchy was attacked for sharing photos with a Russian woman and demanded an explanation at the federal level. Yaroslav had to apologize and come up with ridiculous excuses. And after the removal of Russia from all international competitions, the former friendship between Lasitsken and Maguchy had to be completely forgotten. For the Ukrainian, it was also a great opportunity to finally win the first world championship gold.

Until Budapest 2023, she had only a victory at the European Championship last year in her collection, again at a time when our Maria was simply not at the tournament. In the capital of Hungary, Yaroslav did not have worthy competitors. She took the bar at a height of 2.01 meters, which was enough for the final success. Later, she tried to break a personal record (2.07 meters), but failed all three jumps.

And disgusting behavior

At first, Maguchih celebrated her triumph rather neatly. But the moment she ran up to her team in the stands, everything changed. The Ukrainian spoke with her coach Tatyana Stepanova, who did not find anything better than to loudly shout a well-known political slogan.

Yaroslava, without hesitation, answered the call with a happy face. The result was an exchange of scandalous “greetings”, which did not stop even at the awards ceremony. The Ukrainian woman continued this disgrace with a satisfied face, but the saddest thing is that the organizers did not even think to say anything to her. They simply stood by and ignored how the basic principles of sport, which supposedly should be outside of politics, are being violated.

Perhaps the officials really did not understand what Maguchikh and her team were saying, although this is hard to believe. Still, the slogans in question are already known all over the world. Actually, these words were on the T-shirts of the Ukrainian national team before the last European Championship, but then UEFA asked them to be removed. In an amicable way, for such Maguchy they can even be deprived of an award. According to World Athletics regulation 3.3.14, athletes are required to remain “politically neutral in order to comply with the rules of the organization, as well as the rules of national and international federations.”

Obviously, the Ukrainian completely violated the rules, and she did it not only next to the podium where her team was, but also at the awards ceremony. The official broadcast of the competition will not let you lie. So let’s see what the rules are worth in this situation and whether they will be respected. There is a suspicion that in the case of Maguchy, they will simply turn a blind eye to this and pretend that everything is fine.
